SUPPORT GROUPS AND EXERCISE GROUPS

Throughout our five-state region are numerous support groups where you will meet other people with Parkinson disease and their families. These meetings provide a wonderful social environment in which to connect with people who fully understand the issues you face and often feature speakers from a variety of professions. The table below lists approximately 70 support groups of various types: general support for people with PD and specialized groups for young-onset, caregivers, and veterans. To find the group nearest to you, click here.

Evidence showing the benefits of specific therapy and exercises for PD has led to an increase in the formation of exercise groups. Those, too, appear in this table. Check back often as more groups are added! Another community resource is www.exercisepd.com, which you may click for information.

If you wish to search for Lewy body dementia support groups in your state, click here for the Lewy Body Dementia Association's support groups page.

This listing is current as at July 20, 2015. If you are a facilitator or exercise leader and wish to update the information in your listing, please contact Jeremy Otte at (414) 312-6990 ext 224 or at jeremyo@wiparkinson.org.
